"Caring for others is a cornerstone of healthcare in general, and Angelic Health in particular.  The Angelic Health Foundation Scholarship supports those who pursue careers in nursing and social work.  The future is in the hands of the students of today, and we must do all we can to ensure that healthcare careers continue to thrive with dedicated and well-educated professionals. " -Nick Pittman, Chairman, Angelic Health Foundation Board

The Angelic Health Scholarship for Nursing was one of four scholarships that are making a degree possible for her. "These scholarships are particularly meaningful for me because it will help me continue a lifelong dream of mine and a lesson the financial burden." said Ramirez as she spoke at the recent 58th Annual Scholarship Recognition Ceremony at Atlantic Cape Community College.

Her nursing education started in 2002 at Weiner University, and as it is for many, life's other priorities got in the way. "I do not regret those choices I made," she said. "They are what led me to meet my husband and become a mother to my wonderfully beautiful daughter Lilian." Having worked as a licensed practical nurse for many years, and now in her 40s, she decided that now was the time to give her dream another chance.  "I wanted to prove to my daughter that no matter what the obstacle we can achieve what we put our minds to, " she said.  So, this mom, wife and employee has also become a full-time student. "My daughter and I will graduate the same year," she said tearfully, "and she also plans on becoming a nurse.  Thanks to your generosity, you have made this goal possible. Thank you for believing in me and making my dreams a reality."

Cheyenne Vance of Egg Harbor Township was selected for an Angelic Health Foundation Scholarship for Social Work.

Cheyenne Vance of Egg Harbor Township was selected for an Angelic Health Foundation Scholarship for Social Work. "This scholarship has helped lift a financial burden, but more than that, it reminded me that I’m on the right path, and that my dreams are valid and needed."

Initially she had a business career focus, but discovered that her heart was in serving others, advocating for equity, and creating safe, stable spaces for those who are often overlooked.

Vance's passion for social work is deeply personal. Her mother, now retired, was a social worker who spent her life and career helping others through some of their darkest times. "Watching her dedication and impact on others inspired me from a young age," she said.

As a caregiver for her sister, she learned first-hand of the gaps in care and empathy in systems that are supposed to help. "I’ve seen how people can be dismissed or treated with indifference, and it made me want to be part of the change to serve with compassion, dignity, and real commitment to justice."

Recently, Vance completed a service-learning project at the Mental Health Association in Galloway, New Jersey, where she gained valuable insight into behavioral health and peer support. "I am particularly interested in focusing my career path on affordable housing and mental health," she said. " I’m excited to grow professionally in ways that allow me to serve vulnerable communities.
