Attention healthcare professionals join us for a free CEU Seminar June 27th at Stockton University, SRI & ETTC Building, Room 128,  9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Often times, our nervousness will delay or stop us from talking to someone about their behavior, especially if it has to do with drinking or using other substances.

So how do we bring it up without offending them or losing them in the process? This discussion will offer simple and helpful motivational interviewing strategies to sensitively raise the concern of substance use in a person-centered conversation that keeps the individual engaged and supports their motivation to address change. Topics discussed include Substance Use in a Sensitive Person-Centered Conversation with Dianna Padilla; and Words Matter: Reducing Stigma Through Language in Substance Use Services with Dr. Von Wade.

Space is limited to 36 so reserve your seat today by email to Jennifer Pielhau at jpielhau@atlprev.org by June 20th. This free CEU seminar is sponsored by Angelic Health, Join Together Atlantic County, The Opioid Response Network, and the Overdose Fatality Review Team.

This seminar is pending two CEU approval by the nursing and social work continuing education credit through the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP). AAAP is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and approved to offer social work CEs by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB). Additionally, courses are pending approval for renewal hours (CASAC, CPP, CPS) and initial hours (CPP, CPS) through New York State’s Office of Addiction Services and Supports (NYS OASAS). As an IC & RC member board, OASAS accredited courses are granted reciprocal approval by the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, Alcohol and Drug Counselor Committee.

Funding for this initiative was made possible (in part) by grant no. 1H79TI088037 from SAMHSA.
