Angelic Health was so honored to be part of this incredible day as residents, family and friends gathered on National Cancer Survivor Day at the New Gretna Children's Playground. The BJARCA Foundation honored their local hero-- 9-year-old Chase Huntington who was diagnosed with a rare form of Cancer (RMS) shortly after Thanksgiving.
On this day we acknowledge the struggles of cancer, honor those going through these struggles, and promote life after the diagnosis. It was also the kickoff of a "Chase a Cure" Campaign. This remarkable boy was honored by New Gretna Mayor Rick Adams presented him with a proclamation and led a parade around the park. His grandmother Susan Dasti shared Chase's story. Chase was also presented with a quilt from Kathy Wesley of the Love Quilt Organization. Kudos to the coordinator of the event BJ Adams of the Dare to Care Foundation.
Angelic Health's Tracy Fooks presented Chase with a survivor bracelet. "You’ve been so brave, even when things are tough. That takes a special kind of strength that even grown-ups admire," said Fooks, who is a cancer survivor herself, as she presented him with the bracelet. "We are here today to support you and your family. We want you to know that you are an important part of our community and we are by your side as you move forward on your journey. Your family, your doctors, your nurses, and all the people who are here today—we’re all cheering for you and want you to know we care. This bracelet is a reminder that you are never alone. Every time you look at it, we hope you remember how many people care about you."
Angelic Health sponsored the "Christmas Cornhole" for the children with holiday themed prized provided by the Dare to Care Foundation.
